Costume Jewelry

When my Grandmother passed away I was given a lot of her costume jewelry.  Its been floating around in boxes for about the past 2 years.  So I finally decided to get crafty with it and this is what I made.

An old picture frame painted gold, a piece of cork board and a black piece of velvet = a beautiful piece of art!

I used straight pins on the "Clasp" part of the Brooches to help secure a few onto the board better.

Here's another shot of all the beautiful broaches she owned.  And the best part about this art is its still functionable!

(Sorry the Photos aren't the best quality!)

BTW I just painted my room, don't you just LOVE the color?

Here is a lamp I also made with some of my Grandmother's costume jewelry.

And just for cute factor... my cat SNKT playing in a pile of fabric!

And a picture of Yamcha

Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!

A few weeks ago I was struggling with an idea for a baby blanket I wanted to make for someone.  When this post popped up on Sew Katie Did.  If you aren't reading her blog, you should...  she has some amazing quilts!  Anyways, I instantly fell in love with the pattern and it matches the personalities of the Parents-To-Be so well!

So here is my version of Katie's quilt...

What's your Creative Style?

I took this quiz over at Psychologies to learn what my creative style is.  My Creative Style is...

Creativity enriches you

Creativity is separate from the real world for you. But it’s a magical world in which you like to immerse yourself. When you’re involved in it, you get the wonderful sensation that there are no limits, that anything is possible. What you are really looking for is harmony — you want to feel you are a part of what you create. Planting flowers, writing poetry, embroidery or putting together a photo album, these are all suited to your sort of quiet creativity. You want to fall in love with what you create. You also think of creativity as a part of you in which you can take refuge and feel protected. As the psychoanalyst D Anzieu explained, creativity acts as an ‘encouraging parent — loving, enriching and supportive’. You would love to use your creativity to retreat into a world that is kind and reassuring. For you, being creative means having the chance to become one with what you create, bathe in the glory of it and allow yourself to be taken over by it. This is why you seem more suited to the sort of creativity that calls for gentleness, subtlety, harmony and patience.
This really makes sense to the things I'm drawn to.  When I create I want a quiet environment that is just me and my craft.  I've tried the craft nights and social aspect of creating, but am always drawn back into my own little corner of the world.  Its my way to find a peace.

Elenore Rigby

WooHoo I officially sold my first quilt!  It was to my Sister-out-law, and it was half price....  But regardless, I sold my first Quilt!  What am I going to do with the money?  Buy some fabric of course!
Here's the quilt: Elenore Rigby.

The Quilt originally started as a Disappearing 9 Block.   I laid all the squares out and just liked it better this way.  I just love the way the green, pink, blue, and brown all work so well together.

Inspiration

This Bed and Breakfast Tray which can be found at Huset.  While you are there, check out the rest of the shop too, such fantastic inspiration!

This Art Print from Poketo.  In fact, ANYTHING on this site gets me all excited and wanting to craft!  I even love the logo, the use of overlaping Primary Colors.. I'll have to use this technique in one of my quilts someday!  P.S. There is a line of Poketo products at Target right now... if you are craving a piece of Poketo for a reasonable price!

And finally this Peacock Print from Minkee.  Pretty bold piece, but would be absolutely beautiful on a bed!
